Ronald's digest. Ep 2

Aug 4, 2017

Hello, everybody!

No, the first digest episode did not happen to be the last one, though it is an common problem which many rookie bloggers face. Therefore, I am glad to present you the second episode of my review.

I want to start with the sad news.

Player

I think many oldfags remember the wonderful video player for Windows – Media Player Classic. Actually, I used this player a lot when I was a foal as well. But recently, developers released the last version of the player and shut down their product due to lack of resources and interest among the developers themselves. After 11 years of prosperous existence, we say goodbye to MPC-HC.

vertu

Another gloomy news (especially for fans of luxury and classy phones from expensive materials) came to us from the UK. Vertu company is shutting down its manufacturing operation. It was founded in 1998 and was originally the part of Nokia. After 2012 the company changed its management several times and experienced financial difficulties, which could not be solved in the end.

flash

The news we were ready for and just waiting for when it happens. "Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash. Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats." It's an official announcement that was just a matter of time. Eventually, we can remember that Apple took the course to abolish the flash player back in 2007 and the industry just was waiting for this to happen.

hyperloop

The next news is from the world of the future transport. The ambitious project Hyperloop One, founded by Nikola Tesla of our generation - Ilon Mask, sets a new record. In recent tests, the Hyperloop capsule set a record speed of 310 km / h, which is very close to the mark required for the commercial launch of the project.

GOT

Сan't wait for the next episode of your favorite TV series? Simple solution –  hack the channel server and enjoy the material that has not yet officially come out. That what the guys did who hacked the HBO servers somehow got to the company's confidant materials concerning the Game of Thrones and several other serials. Quite an unpleasant situation for the channel. May the Mother of Dragons help you!
